School Yard design - first up...pollinators!

I have been looking at schoolyards since childhood. The childhood rolled into adulthood and a career in landscape architecture and still I am looking at school buildings and their sites. I have looked at schools from coast to coast and am struck by the paucity of learning opportunities present in the out of doors environment on most campuses. I think that rethinking how we approach sites where we educate our youngest is critical for many reasons, not the least of which is that we can make sites healthier than they are now.

This is an amazing time when resources are literally at the tip of your fingers via the internet. Since it is summer and there's a lot of pollinator activity naturally, I am putting a link to the Pollinator partnership. There is also a Pollinator Live! website with many resources for parents, teachers and kids.
